Municipal Garden, also known as Dona Amélia Garden, in honour to the Portuguese Queen, however lost this name after the collapse of the monarchy in 1910.
These gardens once belonged to the Franciscan Convent, remaining from this period is the franciscans coat-of-arms, displayed in the garden.
Here we can find a variety of beautiful flowers and ancient trees, many labeled with its name and origin.
Located in the city centre of Funchal, it occupies an area of 8300 square metres.
Many events are hosted here, specially during Christmas and throughout the year, such as book fairs, art exhibitions and concerts.
